We recently supported a local school event aimed at helping students fulfil their career aspirations.

Maplesden Noakes School in Maidstone held an event aimed at helping Year 11 students prepare for interviews in the future. The day was the culmination of the students time spent with the school’s careers teacher and Medway Youth Trust, a local leading youth development organisation, taking part in group sessions on employability skills, completing an application form and interview techniques.

The event saw selected local business people conduct mock interviews based on the ‘dream job’ stated in each students pre-prepared application form. The interviewers assessed the students’ employability skills in relation to their chosen career path and offered constructive feedback to help the students achieve their career goals and realise their potential.

Phil Reynolds, Kreston Reeves’ Academies Specialist, was part of this initiative and commented, ‘I was lucky enough to interview eleven students, with their job applications ranging from Electrician, Nanny, Primary School Teacher, Psychologist, Politician and even a Horse Osteopath(!!). The diversity and specificity of career choices made interviewing some students a challenge, but a very worthwhile exercise as many had clearly researched their ‘dream job’ with a clear career path in mind.

We are dedicated to working with the education sector and will continue to support events such as this in raising the aspirations of young people.’
