Social events, fundraising and volunteering

With the lockdown restrictions lifted, the last 6 months of 2021 were a definite improvement on the first, and it has been fantastic being able to organise in-person social events again.

In September, members of staff attended both the Weald of Kent Ploughing Match and the East Kent Ploughing Match. As Kreston Reeves celebrated 200 years of history in 2021, we also invited clients to come along and join us at the East Kent Ploughing Match, and it was great being able to both celebrate and catch up with everyone.

At both ploughing matches we ran a “KRoofs” competition, where people that attended were given a blue KR bandana for their pet, which they then had to photograph and post on a social media platform with #KRoofs. The winner received a family day out to Port Lympne and a Chandler and Dunn butchery voucher. We also ran a prize draw alongside our competition for a chance to win a luxury hamper.

September also marked the return of the Pedometer challenge! This year 42 teams of 4 people took part in walking a virtual route around the South of England. When the results came in, 22 of the teams had managed to complete the challenge total distance, with an impressive 32,166,794 meters logged!

In September, staff across the firm also volunteered to take part in the annual Great British Beach Clean (the pedometer challengers definitely got a lot of steps in that day!). One of the teams in Kent even shared the weight of the litter they collected in Margate that day – 14.5kg! We’re really proud of everyone that volunteered that week to help with the clean.

When in 2020 it wasn’t possible to hold the Firmwide Sports Day event in person, a Virtual Sports Day was arranged and, following its success, October brought the return of the Virtual Games! A member of each team had to compete in one of the 8 games, some completed at home and some in the office.

Accompanying the Virtual Games was the Big Raffle in support of the Kreston Reeves Foundation – there were some amazing prizes on offer including a Nintendo Switch, Spa Days, and a Magnum of Champagne!

Finally, somehow the Partners in our Horsham office were convinced to put on a pantomime for the Horsham office staff, in order to bring some festive cheer and raise money for the local office charity. The pantomime was Snow White (although not really the Disney version!), and some Partners certainly embraced their characters more than others! And for those of you that are curious…

Richard Spofforth does do a very good rendition of HI-HO!
