In episode thirteen, we spotlight Accounts Director, Emily Baldwin who is based in our Canterbury office! You can watch or read Emily’s episode below!

Q: Introduce yourself!

A:  Hi, I’m Emily. I am an accounts director in our Canterbury office.

Q: One myth about financial reporting?

A: That financial reporting is just about the numbers. A lot of the time, there are words included within the financial statements that help explain the numbers a little bit better for the user.

Q: If clients remember one thing about ESG, what should it be?

A: That ESG isn’t just about environmental impacts, it’s also about the social and governance side of things as well. And however small, you can really embed ESG into your business and really make an impact on the communities that you are in

Q: Which of our values resonates most in your role?

A: Probably being crystal clear because I do genuinely believe that sometimes issues that come up in projects and things like that are down to communication. So communication is key to driving projects forward.

Q: As a working parent, how do you ensure good work-life balance?

A: I am, I would say fortunate, yes ’cause we both work for Kreston Reeves, so actually, both of us having the ability to flex our hours, we’ve both come back part-time. So that’s really enabled both of us to balance our work life.

Let’s make it personal!

Q: What’s made working in Canterbury great post-maternity leave?

A: There is always something you need to buy for a child, especially a toddler. So the ease of access to the shops.

Q: In another life, what career path would you explore?

A: Oh, so I’m a little bit obsessed with Rightmove, property, not necessarily because of the market, because of the style. So I would say architect.

Q: Something on your desk that makes you smile?

A: A couple of years ago I won a Kreston Global Spirit of Kreston Award and it is an amazing globe that rotates. So we’ve got that up in the office and I quite like looking at it every now and again when I come in, it’s one of the few awards that I have. Probably the only one actually, so it’s nice to see.
