The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales South East District Society (ICAEW SE) has elected Samantha Mason, business advisory manager at Kreston Reeves, its President of the South East region.
She took up the role on 21 May 2019 and will lead the ICAEW's engagement with the accountancy and business community across the South East, orchestrating and promoting a busy events programme of continued professional development, social events and business networking; providing the opportunity for members to contribute to central and local government policies.
Samantha is one of our home-grown talents, joining us in 2012. She is based in our Discovery Park office, advising owner managed retail, hospitality, manufacturing and technology businesses. She is also involved in providing specialist support to new businesses.
Commenting on her election to President, Samantha said: "This is a real privilege and honour to take this role. The ICAEW represents over 180,000 accountants and students around the world and the South East membership is, outside of London, the largest in the UK. I am looking forward to working with my colleagues and the wider business community to make sure our voices have the opportunity to be heard whilst continuing to ensure the high standards of the profession are upheld and maintained.
“I am also very excited to launch the theme of sustainability for my presidential year, and will be using my role to ensure the region’s business community is aware of the responsibility they hold in solving the world’s environmental crisis. I am keen to ensure businesses place consideration of the environmental impact of their actions top of their corporate agendas and will be providing opportunity for business to become a ‘force for change’ so that our planet remains safe.”
