We are delighted to have sponsored the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards 2018!

We are proud to have sponsored the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards 2018 as a Key Partner in the search for school stars. Held at the Mercure Great Danes Hotel in Maidstone on Friday 18 May, it was a wonderful evening co-hosted by Simon Dolby, chief executive of the KM Charity Team, and Nicola Everett, news editor for kmfm.

The event celebrates teachers, volunteers and non-teaching staff such as career advisers, school secretaries, school business managers, dinner ladies and caretakers who make a difference in children's lives.

This year was a record-breaking one with 1,200 nominations received by parents, pupils, and school staff making the judging process even tougher.

More than 50 staff and teams representing 49 schools and colleges were named as district winners with 23 dubbed the best in Kent!

Rob Sellers, Senior Manager and Academies Specialist presented the 'School Business Manager of the year' award on the night to Catherine Dottridge, School Business Manager at Bennett Memorial Diocesan School in Tunbridge Wells.

Also in attendance was Phil Reynolds, Senior Manager and Academies Specialist who presented awards to winners in the Swale district.

Rob commented, "It was wonderful to present the 'School Business Manager of the year' award to Catherine from the Bennett Memorial Diocesan School, a well-deserved winner who is making her school a great place in which children can thrive.

Strained budgets and pressures on funding means we are guiding many in the sector, including School Business Managers, on managing finance and we applaud them for their dedication in continuing to make a positive difference to the future of our younger generation."

Phil added, "We are proud to have been able to act as a key partner at these awards again, recognising the unsung heroes of the teaching profession and broader education sector. It was great to present the awards to all to winners in the Swale district and especially pleasing to congratulate our client Linda Lucas from Potential in Everyone Academy Trust, Sittingbourne. Well done all!"
