We were delighted to work with Age UK Horsham District on their recent Make a Will scheme which helped them to raise £4,200 and enabled over 20 people/couples to write or amend their Will and/or Lasting Power of Attorney.
Our Legal team of Gemma Spencer and Philip Lansberry organised two Make a Will workshops and a Make a Will Scheme, which were well attended by local older people.
The workshops took the informal format of attendees and solicitors sitting around the table having a cup of coffee and asking whatever questions they had. Attendees commented that is was ‘invaluable to be able to speak to a solicitor informally about these matters and for free’.
Following the workshops our team gave their time for free in return for the individuals making a donation to Age UK Horsham District. The money raised will go towards funding the free services they provide which supports older people in the local area, with the aims of tackling loneliness and social isolation, improving access to services and financial support and generally helping older people to love later life.
Maureen Vallon, Chair of the Board of Trustees for Age UK Horsham District commented: “It was a pleasure to accept this cheque, I am so grateful to Kreston Reeves and their support to make these initiatives happen. Not only were we able to provide good advice on these matters for free to local older people, we were also able to raise some funds to continue supporting our good work in Horsham District.”
Age UK Horsham District is celebrating its 60th anniversary of helping local older people to love later life. If you would like to find out more about them go to www.ageukhorshamdistrict.org.uk
