Phil Reynolds joins Education and Skills Funding Agency’s Academies finance and assurance steering group
Phil Reynolds, Audit and Assurance, Senior Manager and specialist in academies and education, has accepted an invitation to join the Education and Skills Funding Agency’s ‘Academies finance and assurance steering group: working group 3′.
The Academies Finance and Assurance Steering Group has been created to allow the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and academies to work collaboratively to develop a number of finance and assurance products and to provide a forum for ESFA to consult on its wider strategic aims.
Each working group focuses on a detailed area of work as directed by the steering group, to achieve the overall work programme and include selected academy representatives from across the sector are present in the working groups. Each working group will have regard to the interdependencies with the other groups’ work plans (e.g. the links between the accounts direction and the reporting requirements in the accounts return for the purposes of preparing a sector annual report and accounts).
Working group 3 focusses on the development of the Academies Accounts Direction, reviewing outcomes from the main strands of ESFA assurance work, development of sector guidance and liaison with Department for Education to improve capability and financial awareness at pre-conversion stage and during academy transfers.
Phil Reynolds says, “I have been looking to increase my involvement in a sector which I care passionately about. Fortunately, when I expressed an interest in joining the Education and Skills Funding Agency’s ‘Academies finance and assurance steering group’ and emailed in to see if any vacancies were available, there was one!
