Tanraj graduated from the University of Exeter in 2021 with a Masters Degree in Physics and joined the Kreston Reeves in September 2021, after deciding that a career in accounting was right for him.

What led you to consider a career in finance and accountancy?

“I started to get a bit frustrated when I was doing my masters as I felt like some days were wasted and I wasn’t achieving what I wanted to do, and I didn’t want to follow a career where I would feel like that. I spoke with friends and family who are in finance and accountancy, I decided to investigate it as a career and it looked really interesting.”

What made you choose Kreston Reeves as a firm to apply to?

“I did quite a bit of research into firms and Kreston Reeves was coming out as top of the firms for training, so I applied and really liked the people I spoke to and met. They were friendly and approachable during the interview whereas some of the other firms I spoke to had come across as a bit cold.”

Can you tell me about your experience working in the VAT team at Kreston Reeves?

“We work closely as a team in VAT, our work is varied and I’ve got to work with a number of colleagues and clients from different offices. I like how approachable the partners and other colleagues are and I feel like I can speak to anyone or pick up the phone to ask questions, which is important in a hybrid working environment.”

How does Kreston Reeves support your career development?

“I’m still early on in my career but Kreston Reeves gives you lots of information about how your career can progress with the firm and what you need to do to reach the next level. Everyone is happy to help, and I know what to aim for. We have regular catch-up meetings and set goals which they also support you with working towards.

What do you enjoy about the social side of working at Kreston Reeves?

“I also enjoy the social side of the firm. Here in the London office, we play football every fortnight, so it is great to have a kick about, to do something healthy and to spend time socialising with colleagues.”
