We are delighted to be supporting the launch of a new social club for charities in Brighton – The Social Society, which will support them and showcase their work.
Taking place from 7pm Saturday 27 October at Café Plenty, the first charitable projects to benefit from the platforms’ funding include Forward Facing a charity for making memories for families and children facing life-threatening illnesses, Gig Buddies a project that pairs people with learning disabilities with like-minded musical buddies to attend gigs together and Soapbox Postcards.
a peer mentor scheme that supports children and young people to anonymously voice concerns and ask for help.
Toni Finnimore, Founder of The Social Society comments: “After working 10 years in the charity sector, I wanted to create a more social and intuitive way for people to contribute to their community. It made sense for me to start a community-based business here. Brighton has such entrepreneurial energy and a real passion for supporting those within the local community.”
Jamie Servante, Accounts and Audit Team comments: “We are delighted to be supporting the launch of The Social Society. This is a great initiative which gives local charities a much-needed spotlight on the valuable work they do right here in and around Brighton.”
Members of The Social Society are encouraged to take part in the monthly social events which contribute to social good. As well as campaigning and volunteering support, part of the monthly membership fee goes to funding the selected community projects.
The Social Society will also be at the Ideas Lab at TEDx Brighton on 26th October.
