Our Chichester office
Chichester is the only city in West Sussex and is twinned with Chartres, France and Ravenna, Italy. It has notable history dating back to the Roman and Anglo-Saxon times and is still filled with medieval architecture. During the Middle Ages Chichester was an important centre of the English wool trade, and its wool staple (right to trade in wool) was probably established as early as 1314.
The city features Chichester Cathedral, the seat of the Church of England Diocese of Chichester. Construction took place in 1075 and was eventually completed in the 12th century. Its spire was built of weak local stone and rebuilt after it collapsed during the 19th century. It proudly features the only surviving detached medieval bell tower in the world.
As well as soaking in it’s rich history, you can visit Chichester Festival Theatre, watch the horse racing at Goodwood Races, walk along Chichester harbour or visit the South Downs Planetarium and Science Centre. Chichester is also the birthplace of singer-songwriter Tom Odell, who rose to fame following the release of his 2012 EP ‘Songs from another Love’.
