On Thursday 13 February, we had the pleasure of welcoming 15 students from The Dorothy Stringer School in Sussex into our Horsham office, as part of our ongoing partnership with the Dare to Dream programme.
LoveLocalJobs Foundation’s Dare to Dream is a programme dedicated to empowering young people by providing them with opportunities to explore their potential and dream big. Through various initiatives, the charity aims to build confidence, develop skills, and inspire the next generation to achieve their aspirations. We’re proud to have been supporting this programme since 2021, working with students across a range of schools in Sussex.
The day began with a warm welcome and introduction, followed by an office tour and a talk on career pathways. It was filled with inspiring conversations, valuable insights, and plenty of enthusiasm for the future. We were also joined by ex-Brighton and Hove footballer Adam Virgo, who shared his journey and offered words of encouragement, making the experience even more special for the students.
Students participated in an interactive quiz as well as a hands-on workshop designed to highlight the importance of teamwork and communication. This took the form of a Lego challenge where students relied on their team members’ descriptions to build a specific structure.
Mark Pollock, HR Business Partner, commented: “It was such a pleasure to host the students from The Dorothy Stringer School. Seeing their ambition and curiosity was so inspiring and motivating, and we hope this visit has given them valuable insights into the opportunities that lie ahead of them.”
A huge thank you to Finlay Batchelor, Katy Costigan, Freddie Band, and Lindsay Hamilton, who were incredible mentors to the students. We hope the students were inspired to dream big and pursue their aspirations with confidence!
