We have collectively walked, ran or cycled 27,849km or 29,937,871 steps in just four weeks, (15 June-13 July). Each team of four were challenged to virtually travel from John O’Groats to Land’s End. This was a huge target and all participants found it great fun watching the leader board change daily.
This is the third year that we have taken on a firm-wide pedometer challenge in partnership with the Big Team Challenge. This year the challenge saw 63 teams of four walk, run or cycle as part of a wellbeing activity, to encourage staff to work together to exercise and to move more while working from home.
What started off as collectively trying to reach the distance saw the target smashed with some teams of four exceeding the distance by nearly 1000km. This is a fantastic achievement which aimed to encourage everyone to stay healthy, keep fit and to connect with their colleagues on a task outside of day to day work. Working from home has been a challenge for some people and this gave all our colleagues the perfect excuse to leave their workspace and to get out with their family, loved ones and team members. Congratulations to everyone who took part for their fantastic achievement.
The top two teams were:
The Awesome Foursome (Ceri Cook, David Rosevear, Lynsey Light and Steven Morley) who covered 2,577.3km collectively.
Riders of the Storm (Andrew Griggs, Des Sudworth, Richard Heasman and Richard Spofforth) who collectively covered 2,045.5km.
