The Canterbury Festival returns this year from Friday 16 October to Saturday 31 October 2026, offering over 130 cultural and community events.

Each year, Canterbury is host to a hub of creativity, showcasing an exciting programme of live entertainment across the city’s venues. Visitors can enjoy everything from classical concerts and contemporary music to theatre, circus performances, science experiences, and family-friendly activities. Designed to appeal to a wide range of ages and interests, the festival offers an accessible opportunity to experience world-class arts and culture in one of England’s most historic cities. Adam Kay is a BAFTA-winning writer, comedian, and former junior doctor. He is best known for his Sunday Times bestseller This is Going to Hurt, which topped the chart for more than a year. The book has been translated into 37 languages, received ten national awards, and sold in excess of three million copies worldwide. For this performance, This is Going to Hurt combines shocking and often hilarious stories from the NHS frontline with songs and sharp wordplay, creating a comedy show that has entertained more than 350,000 audience members. This year, the performance will be held in The Great Hall at Kings College Canterbury on Thursday 22 October at 7:30pm.
