Our Canterbury office

Canterbury holds a special place in England’s heritage spanning back to 597AD when St Augustine arrived to the city on the Pope’s order to reestablish Christianity in southern England. This resulted in the erection of Canterbury Cathedral, which features original Norman architecture and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The city is well-known for its 800-year history as a major European pilgrimage site. It is the setting of English poet Geoffery Chaucer’s ‘The Canterbury Tales’, depicting pilgrims journeying to visit the shrine of assassinated Archbishop Thomas Becket. You can still visit his reconstructed shrine today at the Cathedral.

Continuing its literary connections, Canterbury has inspired poets, playwrights and writers throughout history including English playwright and poet Christopher Marlowe, whom the Marlowe Theatre is named after. It is also the birthplace of Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom, whose rumoured favourite restaurant is still situated in Canterbury today, Cafe Des Amis.

With a vibrant student community, Canterbury is proud home to two universities; Canterbury Christ Church University and the University of Kent. With nearly 30 years of forensic accounting experience,  Partner and Head of Forensic Accounting Richard Heasman studied at UKC and is Canterbury’s office partner.
