We’re very proud of all our students and the dedication they show to their work, their studies and their ‘extracurricular’ activities both inside and out of work. Particularly during the last year when our students have shown adaptability, resilience and commitment despite the challenging circumstances.

We established our annual Student of the Year Awards last year in loving memory of our colleague Janet Fautley, a leading light for us in continuous learning and excellence. The panel of judges consider a range of factors, including exam results, performance in role, wider firm contributions, our values and supporting comments.

After many nominations from across the firm and careful consideration by the panel, we were delighted to present the Student of the Year 2021 award to Dan Firmager who is based in our Chatham office.

Karen Thompson, our Training Manager, said; “Dan is a great example of the type of student that we are proud to have working for us. He puts the firm and its clients first, recognising that even though he is an apprentice, he has a responsibility to do a job that needs to be done. Dan listens and learns, sharing that learning with the next generation. He is also a passionate advocate of CSR”.

James Peach, Partner and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility said; “Dan has been instrumental in the firm’s development of CSR in the past year. His passion is very clear to see and he has greatly helped in the creation of the CSR impact report that was published in the summer. Since the release of the impact report, he has continued to help drive CSR as we now look to go carbon neutral and consider other areas such as diversity and inclusion.”

Karen goes on to say; “A huge congratulations also goes to our runners up, Taylor Moores and Shannon Baker. Taylor’s dedication to her role as CSR rep and to others is shown through her efforts in the many internal charity events she organises, and through the support she provides to colleagues across all our initiatives. Taylor’s commitment to her clients is of such high standard and really shows that she is demonstrating the core values of the firm.

“Shannon is an exemplar of bringing our values to life in the outside world and within our communities, having represented the firm or hosting various events physically and remotely throughout the last 12 months, including only a few months into employment with the firm, in addition to undertaking voluntary work.

”A huge congratulations to Dan, Taylor and Shannon for their dedication, their hard work and achievements.”

We are proud to continue to be one of the very few accredited ‘employer training providers’ within our sector, training and mentoring the next generation of accountants through our student apprenticeship intake each year.
