Gatwick Diamond Business Charity Challenge
On Friday 5 May 2017, a joint team from the Gatwick and Horsham offices came together to compete in six ‘It’s a Knockout’ events to help support 14 local charities, in the Gatwick Diamond Business Charity Challenge.
The day provided the chance for Gatwick Diamond Business (GDB) member businesses across the county to come together to partake in a fun-filled day supporting local charities. All teams competed in six events which included volleyball, dodgeball, mental and numeracy tasks (we might have had a slight edge there), human table football, bungee run and ‘whacky races’.
After the challenges the team consisting of Jayan Patel, Mike Harman, Declan Bennett, Adam Willment, Jack Fosberry, Ed Tate, Jack Harman and Aaron Mwije finished overall winners, demonstrating great commitment, teamwork and drive.
James Peach commented on the day:
“The afternoon provided a great team building opportunity for the Horsham and Gatwick offices and it was reassuring to see the dedication and commitment of all those that participated. The team worked cohesively throughout and they fully deserved to finish top of the podium. The whole event was a great success and also provided the perfect opportunity to raise funds for a number of local charities. Despite some sore legs and a couple of minor expletives as they pushed through the pain barrier, the team should be very proud of their achievement.”
Finishing a fantastic day of team challenges the Gatwick Diamond Business Charity Challenge 2017 raised a grand total of £7,000 for Action for Children, Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice (one of the local charities we support), Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity, Golden Lion Children’s Trust, Kent Surrey/Sussex Air Ambulance, NSPCC, The Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre, Rockinghorse, St Catherine’s Hospice Ltd, Sussex Community Foundation, Sussex Wildlife Trust, Young Enterprise and Young Epilepsy.
