A group of Kreston Reeves colleagues celebrated LGBTQ+ identity by joining the parade through Canterbury City Centre on Saturday 8 June and the entertainment for the rest of the day.
Pride Canterbury is a spectacular event for the whole family, and this year we had the pleasure of partnering with the organisers to support this important event, coming together to celebrate diversity, equality and progress.
The rainbow-clad supporters continued the celebrations at Dane John Gardens, headlined by drag superstar Baga Chipz accompanied by TV personality Katie Price, and enjoyed entertainment from artists such as 90s and 00s pop legends Urban Cookie Collective and Booty Luv, as well as an appearance from Wicked actress Kerry Ellis, amongst many other acts and performances.
Kimberley Foulkes, Audit Manager and lead for our focus on reduced inequalities, commented: “We are incredibly proud to support and attend Canterbury Pride for our 11th year! The parade and the day was a real celebration and demonstration of the diversity within the LGBTQ+ community and the broader society.
At Kreston Reeves we feel it is so important to recognise that everyone has a unique identity and experience, and that this diversity enriches our culture and communities. We want to contribute to create a more inclusive, fair, and just society where everyone can live authentically and without fear of discrimination”.
Jonathan Fitter-Harding, who runs Pride Canterbury every year said “Thank you to Kimberley and the Kreston Reeves team for being so enthusiastic and passionate about Pride. It means the world!”
We’re also looking forward to supporting Medway Pride from the 12 to the 17 August. Click here to find out more about Medway Pride.
We, as a firm, hold ourselves accountable against four of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals – ‘Good health and wellbeing’, ‘Quality education’, ‘Climate action’, and ‘Reduced inequalities. Therefore, we are acting to affirm equal opportunities not just at Kreston Reeves, but in our local communities; as well as raise awareness by educating others about the adversity LGBTQ+, BAME, women and neurodiverse people face.
