Kent Community Foundation is an independent charitable foundation designed to promote philanthropy that will benefit the lives of people in Kent.
Based in Smeeth near Ashford in Kent, the Foundation helps individuals, families and organisations establish and administer their own charitable funds to support the causes that mean the most to them in Kent. Setting up a fund can otherwise be a complex and costly undertaking that can significantly eat into the resources intended for beneficiaries.
Established in May 2001, the foundation has distributed a total of over £13 million in grants and now provides financial support to over 500 charities and deserving causes throughout the county each year. Beneficiaries of the Kent Community Foundation’s activities range from local child carers to groups of volunteers and community facilities such as village halls and sports grounds.
Carol Lynch, Chief Executive of Kent Community Foundation explained “We connect local philanthropists with local causes that need their help and make sure that their charitable donations work as hard as the rest of their money.” Kent Community Foundation can shoulder the burden of all the administration a fund requires, including handling Gift Aid reclaims and accounting, it can also act as a Corporate Trustee, and provides caseworkers and outreach staff to ensure that support reaches the people who will benefit from it most.
Carol added “Specialist charity advice and accounting support is incredibly important to us – and we are impressed with Kreston Reeves’ ability to provide that advice promptly. We were keen to work with a firm that was well established in Kent and supportive of the local community. The depth of Kreston Reeves’ offering to clients in the charity sector is second-to-none.”
