Q: Introduce yourself!
A: Hello, I’m Dan Firmager, ESG Advisor. I’m based in a forest – is the running joke – I’m actually in the Chatham office.
Q: What does ESG mean?
A: It stands for environmental, social, and governance, and it’s essentially how a business should function.
Q: Can you break it down even more?
A: So the environmental part is what’s the impact of a business and its actions on the planet. The social element is how does a business engage with its suppliers, its customers, the wider community, its own staff. It’s about how they’re treating people. And the governance aspect, I try to think that as how a company is managed, and equally, how transparent they are with their stakeholders.
Q: Why is it important in business?
A: There can be no business on a dead planet. Businesses won’t have supply chains, they won’t have supplies. So for me, it’s the opportunity to be able to try and change the way that businesses interact with the planet and its stakeholders to create a better one and more sustainable.
Q: Any office traditions that stand out at Kreston Reeves?
A: We have a bit of a tradition where we try and get new joiners to the team to do the worm when we go for an office night out, which, you know, we gently encourage, borderline forcing, but gently encourage.

Let’s make it personal!
Q: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: Canada, it screams a bit to me, the mountains, lakes, wildlife, vast open spaces, seems more relaxed. Everyone that goes seems to come back saying, “You need to go, you’ll love it.”
Q: Three dinner guests dead or alive – who would they be?
A: So Tom Hanks, because he’s just my absolute favourite actor of all time. Controversially, I’m a massive petrol head; Valentino Rossi would be my second dinner guest. He’s, well, the best motorbike rider of all time in my opinion. And Margot Robbie, just because.
