Q: Introduce yourself!
A: Hi, I’m Liam. I’m an assistant manager working in the Audit and Assurance Department at Kreston Reeves, and I’m based in the Canterbury office.
Q: What made you choose a career in audit?
A: I always wanted to do something in sort of finance. Working in audit gives me the opportunity to work on a variety of different clients rather than focusing on one thing. I like to seek new challenges, so my portfolio consists of agricultural clients, manufacturing clients, and clients from the retail sector.
Q: What’s your proudest achievement during your career at Kreston Reeves?
A: I’ve got two, so one of them is being promoted from assistant to assistant manager, but the main one is being fully qualified and passing all my exams as a chartered accountant.
Q: How has your role in audit evolved over time?
A: The role has definitely evolved over time. So when you’re sort of introduced into that role, you’re sort of given a small set of clients to be able to manage with a small team, so relatively small companies. And then the more experience you get in that role, the bigger jobs and the sort of bigger teams you start to lead. You’re definitely not thrown in the deep end, and there’s lots of support at Kreston Reeves to definitely help you along the way when you’re becoming a good audit senior.

Q: What would you recommend to someone visiting Canterbury?
A: Visiting Canterbury, there’s loads of things to do. So we’ve got the social side, so there’s definitely loads of places, such as bars, cafs, and restaurants to visit. So if you wanna have a good night, it’s definitely a place to come to. But if you’re looking for something more on the sort of cultural side, you’ve definitely got a cathedral to see that architecture. We can see it sometimes outside our building, and it’s something you really should go and check out
Q: How do you unwind after a long day?
A: If it’s for myself, I’m definitely playing some sports, but sometimes, after work when we’ve all had a little bit of a long day, a small group of us do end up going to Matches and playing some darts and some pool, definitely unwind there, we can sort of let the day go and just sort of get to know each other a bit better and have a bit of a laugh.
