We support PACA students as they Dare to Dream

We’ve recently teamed up with DMH Stallard LLP and Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) to support LoveLocalJobs Foundations’ Dare to Dream programme, helping 210 local year 10 students.

The Dare to Dream programme helps to change the mindset and attitudes of young individuals. We aim to build their self-confidence so that they realise their full potential and are able to strive using their newly learnt life skills.

The programme was led by local radio presenter Jack ‘the Lad’ Hayes, who uses his personal experiences to delve into the themes of self-awareness, resilience, employability, and more to challenge the students’ way of thinking and push their ambitions.

Our staff who volunteered for this programme mentored students who would benefit from extra support and guidance on a one-to-one basis. They drew on experience and personal knowledge to help the students visualise their own pathway into the workplace. This coupled with the opportunity to visit mentors’ workplaces provided the young people with an insight into corporate life, which they may not have had the opportunity to experience outside of the programme.

Jake Standing, Partner, commented: “This is the second Dare to Dream programme that we have participated in with the Love Local Jobs Foundation, with this programme being run alongside our friends at DMH Stallard. It is easy to say that we are supporting young adults against the challenges of the current economic and social turmoil, but the reality is that our team get as much out of the programme as the students do! The feeling that we get when our mentees get progressively more comfortable discussing themes from each session, is really warming. This gives us such confirmation that we make a difference with those we interact with and serves as a reminder to act as a good role model through everything we do. The sessions are organised so well, and the themes are presented immaculately by Jack (in his unique way!). It has been a real pleasure being one of the mentors this year and supporting the LLJ Foundation to inspire young people to reach their full potential, personally and professionally.”

Our purpose, as a firm, ‘to guide you to a brighter future’ is incredibly important to us and it is truly put into practise with our involvement in this programme – we aim to make a difference in shaping the future of the students involved.
