You in Two: Meet Jack Anthony

Our people make our firm. Meet the faces behind Kreston Reeves in our video series ‘You in Two’! In just two minutes, you can get to know a bit more about the people delivering the wide range of accounting, business and wealth services we provide.

In Episode nine, we spotlight Jack Anthony who is based in our London office! Private Client Tax Assistant by day and karaoke superstar by night, Jack shares his favourite aspect of the Kreston Reeves company culture, recounts his longest HMRC hold time, and emphasises the importance of understanding in the workplace.

Q: Introduce yourself!

A: Hi, my name’s Jack. I work in Private Client Tax in the London office and I’ve been at Kreston Reeves for about a year now. 

Q: What does your average day at work look like?

A: So that could be calling HMRC on behalf of the client, whether we’ve noticed an issue or the client has and preparing and filing of tax returns.

Q: What is the longest time you’ve been on hold with HMRC?

A: An hour and a half…but the shortest is three minutes and I still hold that to this day. No one’s beating me on that!

Q: How would your colleagues describe you?

A: Hopefully, funny, kind, helpful – I’d hope.

Q: What’s your favourite aspect of the company culture at Kreston Reeves?

A: I think that there’s always somebody to help, which is very valuable. There’s always a buddy or a manager or even just a friend to be there and help you out if you’re struggling.

Q: Can you share a memorable experience you’ve had while working at Kreston Reeves?

A: Passing my first exam was probably the most memorable experience I had, back in July. 

Q: What do you value the most when being mentored in the workplace?

A: Understanding, I think. Not everything comes easy to everyone and being able to, you know, mitigate your own feelings about the situation and really see where someone’s coming from; whether that’s confusion or just pure distress and not knowing what’s going on and needing just the helping hand to guide.

Q: What is your most prized possession?

A: My most prized possession is probably the chain I’ve got on, my boyfriend got that for me and I don’t take it off, ever. Never have!

Q: What was your last Netflix binge?

A: ‘Suits’, currently still binging. 

Q: What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?

A: Booked a random trip to Paris. It was very nice in Paris. Saw the Eiffel Tower, did a nice little hour and a half walk to the hotel rather than get a cab…

Q: What is your most used emoji?

A: Shocked face emoji. For some reason, just the go to! 😱

Q: What is your go-to karaoke song?

A: Honestly, after a drink, put me in front of a karaoke machine. I’ll sing anything.
