Our people make our firm. Meet the faces behind Kreston Reeves in our video series ‘You in Two’! In just two minutes, you can get to know a bit more about the people delivering the wide range of accounting, business and wealth services we provide.

In episode two, we interview Accounts and Outsourcing Assistant Manager Josh Perkins, who works from our Chatham office. He joined Kreston Reeves as an apprentice in 2017, studying to become a chartered accountant with the ACCA. Josh manages a large portfolio of clients in various sectors, including hospitality, manufacturing and real estate. This involves advising clients on multiple areas, for example their accounts, personal tax and corporate tax as well as being available for any further support queries.  Josh has also recently acted as an outsourced finance director for some of his clients.

You can watch or read Josh’s episode below, which was filmed at our Discovery Park office!

Q: Introduce yourself!

A: My name is Josh Perkins. I’m an Accounts and Outsourcing Assistant Manager. I work in the Chatham office and my day-today role consists of looking after a variety of clients from my client portfolio. More recently, I’ve started to do some interim financial controller and financial director roles where I go in and help out with their management accounts as well as look after and assist with their financial team.

Q: What attracted you to a career in Accountancy?

A: The variety of clients, dealing with different industries, understanding them, understanding how they work, as well as the growth, the variety of time to grow in the role and to, yeah, to seek new opportunities.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your role?

A:  I think the people, I think the people do make it at Kreston Reeves. There’s always people available, take the time out to help you, and just the vast amount of knowledge around the firm. It’s just really good, and is a benefit to me and also to the clients.

Q: How do you spend your free time?

A: So when I’m not working, I spend quite a lot of my time football-based. I play football, I watch football, and I do try to spend some time with my family.

Q: What does work-life balance mean to you?

A: Working from home is brilliant. And for me personally, I moved from Discovery Park to the Chatham office because I am originally from Medway. So I cut my journey down from over an hour to 15 minutes, but still able to service all my clients.

Q: Tell us about your apprenticeship experience at Kreston Reeves

A: My apprenticeship was four and a half years. I started in January 2018, and I qualified in June 2022. I feel more confident in my ability to be able to answer and deal with clients, and I don’t really need as much reassurance as I did when I was studying.

Let’s make it personal!

Q: What is your go-to karaoke song?

A: “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton.

Q: What is something about you that no one expects?

A:  Probably the fact that I’ve now grown a beard!

Q: Where is your happy place?

A: Probably at home, with my partner.

Q: Have you got any hidden talents or party tricks like Kimberley?

A: I think I can do the worm…I don’t think I can do it very well!

Q: If you were to win an award for something what would it be?

It’s got to be the football World Cup!
