We’re delighted to be supporting the Dare to Dream Foundation programme again this year in collaboration with Dorothy Stringer School.

Since 2021, we’ve supported LoveLocalJobs Foundation’s Dare to Dream Programme by working with students across a range of schools in Sussex. This programme aims to inspire and equip young people with experiences and tools to fulfil their dreams, boosting their confidence, employability skills, and wellbeing. By partnering with local employers, educational institutions, public sector entities, and community leaders, Dare to Dream challenges young people to change the way they think about themselves, their future and their place in the world, helping them reach their full potential.

Our employees have been paired with three students each from Dorothy Stringer School in Brighton, where they will continue our in-school mentoring programme over the next two months. By discussing their hopes for the future, our role is to offer a space for discussion to build up confidence in their abilities and ultimately inspire positive behaviours.

The team mentoring and supporting the students this year are:

  • Mark Pollock, HR Business Partner
  • Lindsay Hamilton, Accounts Assistant Manager
  • Freddie Band, Industrial Placement student
  • Katy Costigan, Audit Manager
  • Finlay Batchelor, Accounts Semi Senior

Freddie Band, Industrial Placement student at Kreston Reeves, commented: “Even after just one session with the Dare to Dream programme, it has been a very rewarding experience and a brilliant opportunity to not only help inspire young children towards a brighter future, but also to build valuable skills for myself. It’s a pleasure to meet with the students, and in my opinion, it’s a chance to offer them the kind of advice I wish I had received when I was in their position.”

Mark Pollock, HR Business Partner, said: “Being part of the Dare to Dream programme allows us to directly contribute to the growth and development of young minds. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see the students gain confidence and envision a brighter future for themselves.”

Our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitment is central to our purpose as a firm – to guide our clients, colleagues and communities to a brighter future – and our vision – to have a positive impact and lead the way as a socially focused adviser. We’ve aligned our ESG programme with four of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and LoveLocalJob’s Dare to Dream Programme aligns with our commitment to ‘Reduced inequalities’ by empowering young people through skill and experience enhancement.
