A team from our Worthing office spent two days volunteering with our nominated local charity, Turning Tides.
Turning Tides (formally Worthing Churches Homeless Project) is a community-led homeless project that puts clients and local people at the heart of their mission.
The project focused on decorating the communal areas, of several of the Turning Tides facilities, that are being enlisted to support the charity’s clients who are undergoing rehabilitation.
The two days were split up by specific activities to prep and ready the rooms.
During the first day we were responsible for prepping the environment by cleaning, sanding and filling in holes throughout the plaster. The day was finished off by the application of the base coat.
The second day focused on applying additional coats of paint and glossing the staircases, skirting boards and doorframes.
The team from the Worthing office could not have been prouder to have helped the charity. The office chose Turning Tides as their ‘Charity of the year’ and will continue to fundraise and raise awareness via dress down days, cake sales, donations and supporting the charity by donating edible and miscellaneous items needed from the charity’s monthly wish list.
Amy Thorley, Volunteer Co-ordinator of Turning Tides, commented: “I am really pleased the team enjoyed the 2 days and all 11 of you were a pleasure to work alongside, so thank you.
“I have had really positive feedback about how much better the place looks from both staff and clients which is fantastic.
“We look forward to working with you and your team in the future”.
