You in Two: Meet Mohammed Mujtaba

Our people make our firm. Meet the faces behind Kreston Reeves in our video series ‘You in Two’! In just two minutes, you can get to know a bit more about the people delivering the wide range of accounting, business and wealth services we provide.

In episode three, we interview Corporate Tax Senior Manager Mohammed Mujtaba, who works from our London office. Mohammed joined us in 2019 as an assistant manager and completed his CTA qualifications with us. Now as a senior manager, he manages his own team and contributes further to his clients by writing articles for our newsletters and providing invaluable insights as a speaker during our live webinars.

Q: Introduce yourself!

A: Hi, my name’s Mohammed Mujtaba, I’m a Corporate Tax Senior Manager at Kreston Reeves, based out of the London office, and I’ve been with Kreston Reeves for five years.

My work in tax is broadly split into two areas. The first one is compliance, where we are backwards looking and helping clients complete their compliance obligations, so tax returns and the like. And then the second portion of that is tax advisory work.

Q: Outside of work, how do you spend your free time?

A: Most of it’s spent chasing my young two kids who are both under three, and generally spending time with my family. Otherwise, I like to watch football, I’m quite a big movie fan as well.

Q: What skills do you need for a career in corporate tax?

A: I think it’s important to be diligent in tax because overlooking even the smallest detail could have much larger ramifications further down the line. There’s always an element of change, we get two budgets a year, so you sometimes have to turn on a ten pence piece!

Q: What career advice would you give your younger self?

A: To be decisive and make a decision because oftentimes inaction can be worse than making the wrong decision.

Q: What motivates you in life?

A: My biggest motivation is helping people, and working at Kreston Reeves and helping my clients and my colleagues achieve their goals really makes me happy.

Q: What is your favourite season and why?

A: Spring because I like what it signifies, the new beginning, new hope. 

Q: What is the most adventurous thing you’ve done?

A: Nothing, I think I’m quite a boring person!

Q: What instantly makes your day better?

A: I think having a good cup of coffee.

Q: If you could travel back in time, what time period would you visit?

 A: It would probably be to the Jurassic era, so I could see the dinosaurs in real life, in all their magnificence.

Q: What is your dream holiday destination?

 A: Anywhere, all inclusive (haha)!
