50km completed in just one day, Kreston Reeves’ team successful fundraising challenge

A team of nine colleagues at Kreston Reeves successfully completed a challenge to hike 50km (31 miles) in just one day, raising funds for charities in the South East.

The team started their walk at 6am on Saturday 22 May and finished at 9:30pm after a gruelling 15 hours. The hike included attempting the highest peak in the Lake District (Scafell Pike) and they were met on route by one of their colleagues who cycled over 120km from his home in Preston to Keswick to meet them.

Taking part in the challenge were Sarah Ediss, Candice Hanson, Christopher Gregory, Colin Laidlaw, Jack Fosberry, Matthew Oxenham and Laurence Parry from Kreston Reeves’ offices in London, Kent and Sussex.

The charities supported by this challenge are:

• The Samaritans (Horsham)
• Turning Tides (ending local homelessness) (Worthing)
• The Honeypot Children’s Charity (London)
• Choices – Domestic Abuse Services (Chatham)
• The Clock Tower Sanctuary (Brighton)

Sarah Ediss, Partner at Kreston Reeves comments: “There were a few sore feet and aching muscles after this fantastic team effort and although we were just a couple of hundred metres short of the summit of Scafell Pike due to one of the team suffering a minor injury, we stayed together and celebrated with some champagne and beers as the sunset. I’m really proud of everyone who took part, it was particularly exhausting towards the end but we made it and the rain clouds even cleared to give us some amazing views. We have raised nearly £5,500 for our chosen charities who we are delighted to support.”

This fundraising event was part of the Kreston Reeves Foundation Fifty challenge. Kreston Reeves has asked the team to undertake fundraising challenges with the theme of fifty throughout the months of March, April and May 2021, to support its local office charities. Other challenges have ranged from baking 50 cakes, growing 50 different types of seedlings and holding a scavenger hunt to find 50 unusual objects.
