We are pleased to have provided client hospitality at The Weald of Kent Ploughing Match in Pluckley for the first time on 18 September 2021.

We did this in conjunction with established Maidstone and Gravesend legal services firm, Gullands Solicitors and Kreston Reeves LLP accountancy practise.

The main purpose of the event is for farmers to compete to plough the best furrows as judged by the W.K.P.M.A. who celebrated their 70th anniversary in 2016.

“Exactness is of the essence and every blade of grass and stubble on the plot must be buried within a specified time limit, furrows must be identical, smooth and free from holes and straightness is paramount. Each aspect of the competition attracts points, and after a set area of ground has been completed, the cant is judged and the Champion for the year is settled”.

Visitors and competitors could also enjoy a farmers’ market, clay shooting and a main area with events such as gun dog Demonstrations, bird displays, tug of war and the tradition of tossing the sheaf, all sponsored by Btf Chartered Surveyors and property experts.

Those wishing to bask in the glorious sunshine, or perhaps take a welcome respite from it joined us for complimentary all-day breakfast rolls, hot drinks, a buffet lunch, wine, beer and cider.

Our #KRoofs competition inviting pet owners to add a picture of their pets in a Kreston Reeves bandanna to be in for a chance of winning tickets to either Howletts Wildlife Park, Port Lympne Safari Park or a Chandler and Dunn Butchery voucher was extremely popular too.

Partner & Head of the Private Client department at Gullands Solicitors, Alexander Astley shares “The Weald of Kent Ploughing Match was again a success. This year we partnered with Kreston Reeves accountancy and Kreston Reeves Financial Planning / Craven Street Wealth to provide client hospitality in a more informal and enjoyable setting. It was a pleasure to have worked with the two firms and particularly interesting to hear more about the change in ownership of the financial planning team, their growth plans and through securing this investment they will realise their growth plans and continue to develop their client proposition. We hope to work together further in the future”.

We welcome clients to join the agricultural and financial planning team for a bite to eat and a drink at the upcoming East Kent Ploughing Match in Eastry on 29 September where there will still be time to enter our competitions.
