Together with ASB Law and Barclays, we hosted our quarterly manufacturing forum where there were over 30 attendees. The aim of the forum is to focus on matters and events that have bearing on the manufacturing sector and to provide insights and information to our attendees.
This was a highly interactive event, which included a presentation by Andrew Burton from Barclays on the state of the economy and the growth in appetite for green lending. Rodney Sutton, Head of Manufacturing presented on business opportunities that exist in the highly charged and uncertain Brexit environment, together with some of the key characteristics that business should possess to exploit these opportunities. Shaun Kelly from ASB Law covered the key milestones that business owners should consider in preparing for a trade sale. The meeting ended with a presentation by one of the attendees on the life cycle of his business and some of the key challenges that have arisen during their years of growth.
The mood of the attendees was extremely upbeat and positive. A straw poll was held to gauge business confidence and 7.5/10 was the average score, certainly different to the “Gloom and Doom” that we see on our media at present. SME’s are extremely pragmatic beings realising that the world will not end with a final Brexit but will present many opportunities to companies that are bold and agile enough to seize opportunities as they arise.
